A Tale of Two Cities / İki Şehrin Hikayesi Book Review ( EN & TR)

  I do not know how it works for you, but my decision to read a book is usually shaped by a recommendation or a review. I tend to read books that I become aware of through the suggestions of a writer or academic whose opinions I value, an influencer I enjoy following on social media, or someone in my own social circle whose taste I trust. Of course, this is not always the case. From time to time, I also choose books by researching topics I am interested in, or by purchasing the latest work of an author I already follow out of curiosity. When I bought A Tale of Two Cities , however, I had no prior knowledge of it at all. I did not know when or where it was written, who the author was, or even what the book was about. The only thought that pushed me to buy it was this: “Halil, you never read classic novels.” When I saw the book, I found myself thinking, “Which two cities, and what kind of story could this be?” and I purchased it with a small sense of curiosity. Erasmus nedir ? Nasıl yapılır ? Erasmus'a gitmeden önce bilinmesi gerekenler


Merhaba! Bugün, daha önce belki binlerce kez anlatılmış, yazılmış olan, internette yüzlerce yerde bilgilendirme bulabileceğiniz Erasmus hakkında yazacağım. E peki madem bu kadar anlatan, yazan eden varsa sen niye yazıyorsun diye sorabilirsiniz. Yazmak için bi sebepten ziyade yazmamak için ikna edici bir sebep bulamadığım için yazmaya karar verdim. O yüzden bir de benden dinleyin. Öncelikle Erasmus, yurt dışında 1 veya 2 dönem boyunca üniversitenizin anlaşması bulunan okullarda eğitim alma imkanı sağlayan bir öğrenci değişim programıdır. Erasmus'a gitmeye hak kazanmak için not ortalamanızın en az 2.20 olması ve ingilizce sınavından başarılı olmanız gerekiyor. Not ortalamanız ve sınav notunuzun ortalaması alınarak Erasmus'a gitmeye hak kazananların listesi yayınlanıyor. Bu sıralamaya göre hibe alıp almayacağınızı öğreniyorsunuz. Hibe alan kişi sayısı üniversitelere açılan kontenjana göre değişkenlik gösterebilir. Erasmus'a en erken 1. sınıfta başvurup, 2. sınıfın ilk döneminde gidebilirsiniz. 4. sınıfta gidebilmeniz için sınava en geç 3. sınıfta girip, Erasmus'a gitmeye hak kazanmanız gerekiyor. 

Eveeeeeet. Sınava girdiniz ve Erasmus'a gitmeye hak kazandınız ama nereye gitmek istediğinize karar veremiyorsunuz. Bence karar aşamasında en önemli kriter ülkeden ziyade gitme imkanınız olan şehirdir. Örneğin üniversiteniz Almanya'nın veya Fransa'nın 100bin nüfuslu X şehri ve eski adıyla Çek Cumhuriyeti'nin Prag kentindenki üniversite ile anlaşması var. Ekonomik etkenleri bi kenara bırakırsak, ( hibe miktarı , yaşam maliyeti vs ) Prag burda çok daha iyi bir seçenek. Nedeni ise hem başkent oluşu hem de zengin tarihiyle size sosyal ve kültürel açıdan çok daha fazla seçenek sunacaktır. Tabii ekonomik etkenleri de göz önüne alırsak burda sizin kağıt ve kalemi elinize alıp hesap yapmanız gerekiyor. Kabaca yurt veya kira masrafını, günlük giderlerinizi vs hesaplayarak bütçenize en uygun seçeneği bulmanız gerekiyor. Dilini öğrenmek istediğiniz bir ülke varsa karar vermek sizin için daha kolay olacaktır. Ben Erasmus'u Polonya'nın Wroclaw şehrinde yaptım ve karar verirken bahsettiğim bu 2 nokta üzerinde çok durmuştum ; 

1- Yaşam Maliyeti 
2- Sosyal olanaklar

Kalacak yer konusunda ise yurt mu yoksa kiraya çıkmak mı derdine düşen arkadaşlara kesinlikle yurdu tavsiye ederim çünkü öğrenci nerde eğlence orda. Öğrenci gruplarına ne kadar yakın olursanız o kadar sosyal olup, eğlencelerden ve etkinliklerden haberdar olursunuz. Ayrıca yurtlar genelde okullar ile anlaşmalı olduğu için ayarlaması  daha rahat olur. Daire sahipleriyle uğraşmanıza gerek kalmaz. 

Son olarak da Flixbus ( Otobüs firması ) ,Ryanair, Wizz Air gibi Avrupa birliği içinde rahatça seyahat etmenizi sağlayan firmaların uygulamalarını mutlaka indirin. Genel olarak ucuz olmasına rağmen bazı zamanlar çok iyi indirimlere denk gelebiliyosunuz. Mesela ben Flixbus ile Wroclaw'dan Amsterdam'a yaklaşık 17 euroya gitmiştim. Biraz uzun bir yolculuk olmuştu ama çok ucuza gelmişti benim için. Belki de bunlardan önemlisi gideceğiniz şehrin toplu taşıma uygulaması. Şehirde kaybolmamak için kesinlikle indirmeniz gerekiyor. Gerçi her türlü kaybolacaksınız ama en azından kaldığınız yeri daha hızlı bulmanıza yardımcı olur. Yazı biraz fazla uzun olduğu için burda bitireceğim. Birçok noktaya değinmeyi unutmuş olabilirim. Aklınıza takılan şeyleri sorabilirsiniz. Siz anlayana kadar ben burdayım, benim işim bu. Gerçi bazı şeyleri de yaşayarak öğrenmenizi tavsiye ederim. Hadi ben kaçtım.

Vedat Milor's Q&A formatted book was pleasant and easy to read, but I haven't written a review about it yet. Maybe my opinion will change; I'm not entirely sure. "Thinking, Fast and Slow" is an incredible book, about 500-600 pages long, predominantly written in an academic tone. I managed to read halfway through and discovered some surprising insights and analyses about how the human brain works for the first time. Yeonnam-dong's Smiley Laundromat / Yeonnam-dong'un Neşeli Çamaşırhanesi Book Review ( EN & TR )

To be honest, I’ve started to feel a bit uncomfortable always beginning with “Hello again after a long break.” I wish I could read and write more frequently. In what order should I read Marvel comic books? (EN&TR)

I’m sure everyone has asked themselves this question dozens, maybe even hundreds of times. In fact, not only themselves, but many people have also asked it online and tried to find an answer. After getting lost in all the details and complexity, the excitement and motivation to read disappeared, and they gave up halfway through. Later, with sudden bursts of interest in comics, the cycle was triggered again, but once more, it burned out at the same point and the subject was closed. At some point, you might have felt like you finally found a way out and decided what to read — but then either you couldn’t find the very first issue of the series you wanted to start, or you thought: “Damn, if one single comic book costs this much, how much will I have to spend if I want to read the whole series?” and sadly gave up once again.
